Hello dear ones! This post is a brief round-up of my week in blogging, followed by a few personal reflections, and ending with a Question of the Week, which you are cordially invited to participate in π
The Week in Review
For my Monday Music post this week I shared a moving track by an American country artist named Jenn Bostic. You can read that post and listen to the song, which is about how Jenn lost her father at a young age, by clicking here.
I shared more music on Tuesday as it was release day for song seven on the T.E.N. Project, my ten-song experimental music project. Read about the track and listen here.
This week I substituted my regular Thursday Theology post with a WednesdayΒ post, as I felt inspired to share an extract from one of my books. The section I shared is about a crazy spiritual encounter I had. The article is called ‘Encountering a Cult’ and you can read it here.
I took a break on Thursday but returned with my regular Friday Philosophy post, which this week featured Plato and his influential idea about the the realm of forms. You can read my response to Plato’s theory here.
A Few Reflections
- Thank you to everyone who responded to last week’s QOTW about rodents. There were some great stories! π
- This coming week I’m throwing my schedule out of the window (sorry!) because I want to focus entirely on a particular post about Scripture/theology. The post, which I’ve already written, is actually quite a big deal for me, and I’m really looking forward to getting your thoughts. You might be surprised! I’ll be publishing it tomorrow (Monday).
- Thank you to everyone who has been keeping me in their prayers. It means the world to me. And remember that every Sunday I have some quality prayer time and I always lift up my blog followers to the Lord and ask for His blessing and favour over your lives in the coming week. β€οΈ
Question of the Week

Oh my gosh. A year ago, after moving back here to Utah, I had to go through winter with only my tennis shoes. So this year I saw a special from FILA getting two pairs of boots for the price of one. I got a pair of lace up hiking boots in leather, and the others were what we call ‘duckies’. A rubber outer housing protecting the feet, also lace up…and then it never snowed bad enough to wear them. Okay, I wore the duckies twice, and the leather boots are still in their box.
But I could have bought eight days of food in their stead. Oh, the agony of ‘opportunity costs’. Also because they were mail order, and I selected size 11’s, they’re really 10 1/2’s and tight on my feet.
I definitely should have prayed more about them and perhaps the Spirit would have said,,,’ah, maybe a 12 Phil, would be better’. Looking forward to reading your Plato and Cult stories, as this has been both an exciting and productive week for me too. Especially if I get to start working next week…I’ve been unemployed for 21 months now.
And I liked the instrumental, nothing overdone yet comprised of enjoyable chords and melodies. Awesome.

Awesome, I think ‘books’ is going to be the answer for a lot of people!
Incidentally, for me it was some bed linen, which I ordered from Amazon, and I need to collect from a local shop today π

Hi Fr. Bench!
Bunch of teas – now there’s a great idea. I should do the same! It’s a real blessing and very enjoyable to have different teas to choose from.
Regarding my post tomorrow, I’m really interested to see what people think. I hope you get the opportunity to give it a read π
God bless you and have a great week.

Hey Kristian! I’ve read both of those books. I’ve still got a copy of The Alchemist on my bookshelf that a friend lent me many years ago, I think I asked him if he wanted it back and he told me to keep it. Hope you enjoy both books!

Oh I have read them, The Alchemist is one of my all time favourites. I got them for my Neice who is feeling a bit withdrawn, I am hoping they will inspire her and give her a lift. Thanks and all the best.

Jill and I are currently planning a trip to Xinjiang, the furthermost western province in China. It should be a whole other world!

That’s really exciting, David! I’ve got a map of the world on the wall upstairs so I’ll see if I can find Xinjiang π
